Here are some of the questions that we’re often asked about our corporate video production marketing services and their answers. If you can’t see your question here, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Q – Can you send me some samples of different formats?
A – Yes, however we charge a small fee in a range of $30-100 depending on the product sample you are requesting. At the time of your first order, we will credit the amount of the sample to the order.
Q – Why do I need to pay for samples?
A – The cost of samples are not cheap and this eliminates the non-serious people with a very small fee for samples.
Q – What file format for the creative do you require to produce a VPP product?
A – Print Ready PDF file. Native files with layers are needed. In-depth information will accompany our templates.
Q – How do you treat fonts when we create artwork?
A – All Fonts need to be converted to outlines
Q – How would you want the images created
A – 300DPI Images and all images layered in the PDF file
Q – Do you laminate your products?
A – Yes, all our products come standard with a matt or gloss laminate. We can work without laminate; however we use this technique to protect the printing and to give a longer shelf life for our products.
Q – Do you have any other types of lamination you offer?
A – Yes, we can also offer non-scuff or silk (soft) touch lamination options at a premium cost.
Q – Can you do different printing techniques?
A – Yes, we can do many different techniques such as and not limited to Foil, Emboss, Deboss, Spot UV etc.
Q – Does the size or format matter of the brochure?
A – This is customization portion we love to explore. You can work with a landscape or a portrait brochure, and we can customize the size to fit your needs.
A – We can customize all our products to suite your needs. We can have multiple pages, no pages, saddle stitch, perfect bound magazines/books, presentation boxes, folders with pockets etc.
Q – What printing machines do use?
A – For small print runs we use HP Indigo 3550 which supports CMYK printing that supports a 13 x 19 inch paper sheet size.
A – For larger print runs we use
2 colors printing – Heidelberg CD 102Z
5 colors printing – Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102F+L
6 colors printing – Heidelberg Speedmaster CD102-6
Q – What Video format do you require to produce a VPP product?
A – AVI (Xvid codec), MP4 (Mpeg 4 codec) would be ideal, however if you do have a video that is in another format, we can help you convert it to the correct specs.
A – 2.4” and 2.8” supports AMV video format or AVI format (MJPEG codec) that will require using our proprietary video converting software, all other screen sizes support general video format can be converted by any free video converting software.
Q – What aspect ratio should the video be supplied in?
A – Our 2.4” and 2.8” screen sizes support 4:3 aspect ratio. Screen sizes 3”, 4.3”, 5”, 7”, 9” and 10.1” support various forms of wide angle aspect ratios
Q – What is the resolution of your screens?
A – 2.4” and 2.8” support 320 x 240 resolution
A – 3.0” supports 400 x 240 resolution
A – 4.3” and 5.0” support 480 x 272 resolution
A – 5.0” also comes in a higher range which supports 800 x 480 resolution
A – 7.0”, 9.0” and 10.1” supports 1024 x 600 resolution
Q – What resolution does your processor chipset support?
A – 2.4” and 2.8” processor supports 320 x 240 resolution
A – 3.0” supports 400 x 240 resolution
A – 4.3” processor supports 480 x 272 resolution.
A – For the higher end product range we have processors that can be used for a 4.3”, 5.0”, 7.0”, 9.0”, 10.1” which supports 1280 x 720 resolution.
Q – What are the FPS required for your video screens?
A – 2.4” and 2.8” supports 21 FPS
A – 3.0”, 4.3”, 5.0”, 7.0”, 9.0”, 10.1” supports 25 FPS
Q – What bit rate should the video files be in?
A – 2.4” and 2.8” we recommend minimum 2000 kb/s
A – 3.0” we recommend minimum 1000 kb/s
A – 4.3” we recommend minimum 1000 kb/s (for processors that support 480×272 resolution)
A – 4.3”, 5.0”, 7.0”, 9.0”, 10.1” screen sizes, we recommend 2500 kb/s bit rate
Q – How long of a video can we store in a Video Plus Print product?
A – It is subject to the built in memory, usually our standard built in memory supports 20 minutes of video that are compressed using medium quality video specifications. Our minimum storage memory capacity is 5 minutes and maximum can be a few hours.
Q – Can you have more than one video?
A – Yes, depending on the length of the video you can have hours of video broken down into many small videos. For multiple video options we recommend having video control buttons
Q – Can we change the video files in the device?
A – Yes, our products are usually configured to support the end user to change or delete the video files in the device. However, if you want the video files to be locked, we can provide that option as well.
Q – What kind of battery do you use and is it safe?
A – We use Lithium Ion Polymer Battery, which comes fitted with a safety circuit to prevent damage due to overcharging.
Q – How many times can we recharge the battery?
A – You can recharge the battery about 500 times or 1 year (whichever comes first)
Q- How long will the battery last?
A – Our standard continuous play time for most of our products are 1.5 – 2 hours continuous play time. But if you want a longer playtime, we offer that too.
Q – How do you charge the device?
A – All our products come with a Micro-USB port for you to re-charge the device
Q- How long does the battery last on standby mode?
A – All Lithium Ion batteries have a self-discharging property. Under normal conditions the battery self-discharge rate is approximately 4mA per day (subject to weather conditions). In extreme hot or cold weathers the self-discharge rate will increase.
Q – I have had problems when buying from other suppliers and the battery reaches us almost empty. Why is that? Will I have the same problem buying VPP products?
A – Inexperienced or unprofessional manufacturers sometimes pack the units incorrectly, that causes the units to play in the carton while in transit, which results in the units having very little battery left.
A – Poorly designed circuit boards drain batteries in when the device is on standby mode. A professionally designed circuit board, such as VPP mother boards are designed to prevent any additional battery consumption. You will not have such problems with Video Plus Print. At VPP we pay attention to small details to ensure the highest success rate for your campaign.
Q – What binding options are available with video brochures?
A – Saddle Stitch, Perfect Bound options are available
Q – How long will it take to produce the average video brochure
A – 4-6 weeks will cover you for most of our products for most quantities fewer than 10,000.
Q – Do you load all the videos to our product?
A – Yes, we do more than just load the videos on to the product. We check the video quality before we load the video, we check to ensure the resolution is correct and it will fit properly on to the screen size you have chosen. We also check the audio quality/levels meet our standards with our product. We will adjust the treble or base to ensure top quality.
Q – What type of glue is used in your product?
A – We use 3M brand self-adhesive tape in most cases. When production presentation boxes or hard cover products, we use industrial quality liquid glue. We will never use non-branded self-adhesive tape that normally loses its adhesiveness over a period of time or in humid conditions.
Q – What size brochures can you produce? A – We can produce any size you like; the limits are to your imagination. We can produce sizes from your standard business card size 2”x3.5”, and different sizes such as 5”x7”, 6”x9”, 8”x8”, 10”x13” and many more to choose from.
Q – Can I add buttons to the product
A – Yes, you can add buttons with different functions (subject to space availability).
Q – Do I get a pre-production sample with my order?
A – Typically on smaller order we do not provide a pre-production sample / prototype. This service is available at an added cost. If the order is a large quantity we will do a pre-production sample for proof of concept. For smaller print runs we send you hi-res images and/or video demo to show you the pre-production sample for your approval.
Q – What is the minimum order of your products?
A – Depending on the product we have a minimum of 50 say on a business card, but will go up to minimum of 100 units on a hardcover product. Really depends on the product you choose.
Q – Do you sell video modules or video slugs?
A – We do sell video slugs or video modules to printing and fulfilment houses all around the world. They are designed in a way that can be easily and quickly wrapped with a printed card at your end.
Q – What is the warranty of the product?
A – Our products are covered under 1 year warranty for manufacturing defects only. If damage is occurred by the end consumer, repair is possible on a case to case basis at a cost.
Q – What is your AQL standard?
A – Our official AQL standard is 1% critical, 2.5% major and 4% minor. Our track record however has been below 1% for critical, major and minor defects. At VPP we are always aiming for perfection, despite each unit being a handmade.
Q – Do you use any second hand components?
A – No, we do not use any second hand components and ensure that every component meets the highest standard. We recognize that it is your brand image that is at stake and we consider it as our duty to safeguard and enhance your brand image with the help of our products.
Q – How do you deal with defective units?
A – Because of our low defective rate, we rarely get any units sent back to us. Nonetheless we always make extra units to help with an immediate exchange of the defective units so that your marketing campaign is hampered in anyway. We have a technical team at our Hong Kong office to help with any repairing matters (if needed) and our repair turnaround speed is a few days only.
Q – What is the standard price point of your products
A – The price range depends on many different items. The most import item is the screen size and if you are adding any multi-sensory items do the product. The next most important portion is the quantity you are looking to produce. We will also need to know how many video’s you want on the product and how many buttons? Based on this information you could be on the low end $15.00USD -$80.00 USD per product.
